In a real-life treatment plan, you may have much more comprehensive results, but for purposes of this class, a thorough summary will do. The purpose here is not to have a perfect model of real-life assessment results, but to remember that assessment is key to a treatment plan and everything in the plan must be aligned to it. Remember to consider possible results and issues that may be specifically related to ASD, even if hypothetical (while still keeping in mind that every child with ASD is different!). Examples might include need for visual supports, structured teaching environment, clear boundaries, items or areas to increase or decrease sensory input (including the ability to appropriately engage in self-stimulatory behavior), highly motivating items or activities, adaptations to assist with communication and social interactions, and adaptations to reduce anxiety (choices, priming, breaks, et cetera).
Using your DSM-5 intervention matrix, you can focus only on the behaviors you have included (though in a real-life situation, there may be many more). For skill-building behaviors, discuss the skills the child has and/or needs to have related to that behavior. For behavioral excesses (challenging behaviors that need to be reduced), discuss the function of those behaviors and the behaviors that will replace them. Discuss environmental or family factors based on an intake assessment. Discuss preferences and potential reinforcers based on a hypothetical preference assessment.

Use the following resource to get an idea of the major components that might be included in your assessment summary, and to look forward to what might be included in a treatment plan.
